HMRC Email Scam Alert

An EDA client has received an email claiming to be from HMRC regarding a refund, we called HMRC to be informed this is a scam. Copy of e-mail below:

“HMRC have requested people to fwd these e-mails to phishing@HMRC.gsi-gov.uk to report them.

There are also texts being received. HMRC have confirmed they do not send e-mails or texts regarding refunds. There is a generic text that goes out but it does not contain information, just prompting to contact HMRC directly.

People are also receiving text messages these need to be forwarded to 60599
