Evening and weekend GP appointments for Enfield patients

Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is pleased to announce that a further two primary care access hubs were launched on Monday 27 February providing extra GP and nurse appointments in the evenings and at weekends to Enfield patients.

One hub will open in the South West and the other in the North West of the borough at the following locations:

Carlton House Surgery
28 Tenniswood Road,
Enfield EN1 3LL

The Woodberry Practice
1 Woodberry Avenue,
Winchmore Hill N21 3LE

The first hub opened on 1st December at Evergreen Primary Care Centre in Edmonton in the South East of the borough.

Hub opening hours are 6.30pm – 8pm weekdays and 8am – 8pm weekends and public holidays. Patients can book urgent and routine appointments, either same day or in advance at any one of the three hubs, making it much easier for Enfield patients to get the care they need when they want it at a location that is convenient for them.

Patients registered with an Enfield GP practice (or those resident in Enfield but who have yet to register with an Enfield GP practice) can book an appointment with a local GP or nurse at a hub by either contacting their own GP practice or by calling the service directly on 03000 333 666.

One of the added benefits of the new service is that the GP or nurse will have access to view the patient’s medical record during the consultation thereby enabling clinicians to have a greater understanding of the patient’s health needs and choosing the treatment that is right for them.*

It is expected that the new service will also help reduce some of the pressure on other local health services, such as accident and emergency, which people often turn to if they can’t see a family doctor.
As previously confirmed, a hub in the North East of the borough will not be opening yet as an accessible surgery has not been found. Enfield CCG will look at how well the three hubs are being used over the next few months and in June we will make a decision as to whether a hub in the North East of the borough is required. Enfield CCG is committed to offering equal access to services for our patients across the four geographic localities in Enfield.

*Authorised clinicians only will have access to view the patient’s medical record. The clinician will not be able to amend the patient’s record but will send a summary of the consultation and treatment provided to the patient’s registered GP. All patient information will be treated confidentially. Patients have the right to opt out of having their medical record shared with other health providers. Speak to your GP practice for more details.
